How to Find and Defeat Beira of the Rotten Pack in PoE 2

Beira of the Rotten Pack is one of Path of Exile 2’s tougher optional bosses. I’ve faced her dozens of times and I’ll tell you exactly where she hides, what she does, and how I beat her without overcomplicating things. Honestly, preparation wins fights more than raw DPS.

Where she spawns

Beira appears in the Putrid Cloister, accessible from the Vaal Ruins east entrance during Act 3. You need the “Cleansing the Corruption” side quest from Alva to open that door. The entrance shows a green miasma and the zone scales to roughly level 35–40 (or your character level).

Expect a maze. Expect poison pools and packs of corrupted creatures. The arena sits in the deepest chamber, surrounded by big bone arches and a debuff that cuts movement by about 20% as you get close.

Quick facts

  • Act: 3
  • Zone: Putrid Cloister (enter via Vaal Ruins East)
  • Prereq: “Cleansing the Corruption” quest
  • Map level: ~35–40

Prep and stats you should aim for

Why those numbers? Because chaos damage and corrupt mechanics are what hurt here. You’ll survive longer if you trade some raw damage for mitigation. I found the fight becomes predictable once resistances are decent.

Stat Minimum Recommended
Chaos Resistance 50% 75%
Life/ES ≈3,500 5,000+
Movement Speed 25% 35%+
Poison Handling Flask Passive or gear

Flask setup example (works for many builds):

1. Divine Life Flask of Curing (remove poison)
2. Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline (move)
3. Amethyst Flask (chaos mitigation)
4. Granite Flask (physical)
5. Utility Flask (build specific)

How Beira fights (short list)

  1. Putrid Swipe — frontal cone; telegraphed by raised claw; dodge or roll behind.
  2. Corruption Breath — 180° channeled breath; applies corruption stacks fast; step behind her or go max range.
  3. Rotten Pack Summon — wolves spawn at 75%, 50%, 25%; they explode on death; kill them quickly from range if you can.

Danger: at 25% HP she enrages, attacks 50% faster and adds a poison aura that deals about 500 chaos DPS in melee range. During the final phase she can go untargetable for ~5 seconds and spawn a Decay Storm of projectiles, so movement and add control are vital.

Practical strategy — what to do and why

Start at the arena edge. That gives you space for movement and for predicting her breath arcs. Keep steady damage; bursts often hit an immunity window and waste flasks. Why? Because she has moments where damage doesn’t register — save big cooldowns for right after those windows.

  • Pre-activate defensive buffs before engaging.
  • Use movement abilities during Decay Storm (save them).
  • Focus adds first when they spawn.
  • Manage corruption stacks (cleanse or use circles that spawn every 45s).

Tip: if corruption stacks hit 7–8, cleanse immediately. I’ve died to stubborn stacks more than once (ugh).

Ranged builds generally find the fight easier because they avoid melee auras. Controversial? Maybe. I think ranged gets an advantage that feels a bit unfair sometimes. But counterintuitively, a tanky melee with high fortify and life leech can clear faster if the player times the breath dodges perfectly — weird but true.

Rewards (as of 2025-08-01)

Beira guarantees the Putrid Heart Amulet (it’s always dropped). She also has a 15% chance to drop Essence of Corruption and typically drops 2–3 corrupted rare items plus currency. Unique maps drop roughly 5% of kills.

Item Chance Notes
Putrid Heart Amulet 100% +30–40% chaos res; converts 10% phys taken to chaos
Essence of Corruption 15% crafting material
Corrupted Rares 100% (2–3) good for crafting

Common mistakes

Players rush the arena or ignore adds. They hoard movement charges until it’s too late. They stack DPS at the cost of chaos res because they want faster kills — that won’t work the way you expect. Also, some folks think flask timing is optional; it isn’t.

Watch this: pause for a second when adds spawn. Kill the wolves from range. If you run in and cleave everything, the exploding wolves will punish you hard.

Extra notes, opinionated

Between us, I find the fight elegant in design but a bit punishing on melee players. Developers could adjust add timing or reduce explosion radii — others will disagree. Do I want that changed? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There are exceptions depending on your build.

One counterintuitive insight: being deliberately slow and conservative with flasks often saves more time than pushing for a one-shot kill. It sounds boring, but it works.

“Patience beats panic.”

Finally, a short example of route code for mapping the Vaal Ruins east path (if you want to mark it in your notes):

// Pseudocode for path marker
enter_zone("Vaal Ruins");
head_east();
follow_miasma();
open_side_entrance_if(quest == "Cleansing the Corruption");

Good luck — may your flasks never run dry and RNG favor your drops! 🎮⚔️
