The Vastiri Desert hides Hadi and Rafik, twin terracotta guardians who test coordination and timing. I’ve fought them dozens of times; this will tell you where to find them, how they act, and what I recommend if you want to win.
Where to look (exact)
They appear in the Vastiri Desert, northeast quadrant of the map. You won’t see them on the minimap; you’ll find a pair of large terracotta statues facing each other marking the entrance. In my experience, the outer perimeter has animated clay soldiers—those are the minor patrols.
Quick scout tip: use a movement skill with wide coverage like Flame Dash or Lightning Warp to clear sand quickly. The arena entrance sits behind a stone door that rises after you solve a four-seal puzzle (the seal order changes daily; read hieroglyphs to determine it).
How the fight works ⚔️
Hadi (red) hits hard in melee and favors fire. Rafik (blue) prefers range and frost. They share a linked health pool and a rage mechanic that ramps damage as combined health drops. Honestly, that link makes target priority weird.
| Phase | HP Range | New Threats |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | 100%–75% | Basic attacks, slow movement |
| Phase 2 | 75%–50% | Synchronized combos |
| Phase 3 | 50%–25% | Arena hazards; freeze risks |
| Phase 4 | 25%–0% | Berserk; constant AoE |
Most dangerous: Twin Devastation—every 30 seconds they charge beams from opposite ends that sweep the arena. Safe spots are small side alcoves (use them, seriously!). Hadi also creates burning pools while Rafik freezes players who touch those pools, which gives brutal temperature-shock damage if you stand in both.
// Typical rotation (Phase 2+)
Hadi: Leap Slam → Ground Slam → Molten Strike
Rafik: Frost Bolt volley → Ice Prison → Glacial Cascade
BOTH: Twin Devastation (30s cooldown)
Builds and why they work 🛡️
Ranged builds usually handle the duel more easily because you can kite Hadi and punish Rafik at distance. I’ve noticed, though, that some melee setups can cheese the fight with high mobility and instant heals.
- Lightning Strike Deadeye — strong single-target and kiting.
- Toxic Rain Pathfinder — DoT + good positioning control.
- Righteous Fire Juggernaut — tanky; survives burst but needs careful play.
Why these? Because the fight mixes heavy physical and elemental sources; you need sustain and flexibility. Aim for at least 5,000 life (or 4,000 ES), 80%+ elemental resist when possible, freeze immunity by Phase 3, and some flat physical reduction. Flask choices matter: Basalt for phys, Sapphire for frost, Ruby for fire, and a life flask with bleed cure. (There are exceptions—depends on your niche.)
Practical positioning and tactics
Don’t stand between them during Twin Devastation. Watch this: bait one to an alcove, kite, resurface, move to the other side. Why? Because the beams sweep and the arena hazards stack unpredictably. Also, focus on interrupt windows—Hadi’s leap has a windup you can punish.
“If you survive phase three with cooldowns saved, phase four becomes manageable.” — advice I repeat to my raid team.
Counterintuitive tip: a mobility-heavy melee can beat them faster than a squishy ranged build in low-lag conditions. Sounds odd, but when you can close and stagger Hadi you deny Rafik safe casts. There, I said something controversial—some will disagree!
Rewards and farming (updated 26 November 2025) đź’Ž
They drop uniques and currency. Community reports (as of 2025-11-26) suggest the drop pool is decent for endgame farming; I’ve seen useful uniques often enough to make repeated runs worthwhile. Farming for SSF players is especially good because the guardians can award unique items other bosses don’t.
| Item | Type | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Terracotta Oath | Unique Ring | Strong life + elemental res (community-observed) |
| Guardian’s Embrace | Unique Armour | High life; defensive mods |
| Sandsworn Treads | Unique Boots | Mobility with burning ground effect |
They also drop currency and sometimes crafting materials; reports vary and drop rates are debated (controversial point two: some players think the publicly quoted percentages are optimistic). If you want repeat runs, use a “Desert Rose” on the altar to respawn them—these roses appear across the Vastiri or can be traded.
Troubleshooting and final tips
Stumble: you’ll wipe a few times. I did. Keep track of cooldowns and practice the beam timing. Oddly enough, practicing solo with a friend who intentionally lures one guardian helps build muscle memory.
Short tip: freeze immunity before phase three. Long tip: save one defensive cooldown for the first Twin Devastation after 50% HP because they often chain hazards then; you’ll survive and can turn the fight. This doesn’t always work—lag or server hits can ruin timing.
Want a quick checklist? Here you go:
- Find entrance in northeast desert. (Look for statues.)
- Solve the four-seal puzzle; read hieroglyphs for order.
- Bring mixed defenses and proper flasks.
- Use alcoves during Twin Devastation.
By the way, I’ll repeat: practice the pattern. We found that studying one phase at a time cuts the learning curve in half. Between us, it’s less fun to die to cheap beam timing—but you’ll get there. Good luck; go earn those terracotta rewards!
