Gift Buying on a Budget

How is your budget this year? I know mine is stretched a little thin. I want to be able to give meaningful gifts to all of the same people I have given to in the past. I do not want to have to cut my gift list down. So, I am simply seeking more frugal alternatives.

One of Kmart’s big draws this shopping season is the fact that they have over 25,000 gift ideas all for under $25. And, I’m not talking about cheap-o gadgets that break as soon as you remove them from the box or oddball tokens that nobody with half a brain would really want to receive. I’m talking about quality stuff from brands like Craftsman®, Celebrations by Radko™, Martha Stewart Everyday, Disney and many others

I found these adorable Disney character snow globes for $19.99 each. They have Mickey and Minnie; Cinderella, Aurora and Belle; Tinkerbelle; and Pooh with Piglet. My daughter was looking over my shoulder as I was looking at the magnified image of the globes and she promptly walked over and added the princess one to her Christmas list.

My daughter also asked for a Water Baby this year. That is the doll you fill with warm water so that it has the heft and feel of a real baby. Kmart has those for under $25, too. That is great news to my wallet. It took me months to catch up on finances after last Christmas, but I can already see where I can cover my entire list for less this year.

My niece loved her Water Baby doll I gave her many Christmases ago, I think she still has it. It was a soothing toy to her too, as you can fill the water baby with warm water (don’t microwave!).
