A Skin Odyssey

I had pretty skin in high school. I had pores you could barely even see and a smooth, porcelain complexion. I rarely got a pimple, and when I did I would just dab it with my sister’s Clearasil at night and it would be gone the next morning. I did, however, have blackheads on my nose and due to those tiny pores; they were hard to get out! I remember lying on my bed with my mom pushing on my nose to try and get them out. It made me miserable, but she insisted.

I’m paying now for all that wonderful luck back then. I have to deal with breakouts monthly. It was as though I needed to re-learn my entire skin routine. I still don’t have it down to a science, but at least now I know what to expect at different times of the month and I have the right products on hand.

Of course, I will need to re-learn a skin routine all over again once my daughter is a little older. Surely, her skin will be different than mine and I will want to be prepared on how to teach her to care for her skin. Already she suffers from terrible psoriasis (though not on her face) and I have to learn all about that so I can care for her skin and teach her to care for it as well.
