Life on Florida’s West Coast

In the Face of Immortality

I do not have the time to play all that many video games. The game systems all went out of the house with my ex-husband and I decided then that I would limit my game-play to games I could play online.

One of the more popular online games is Tabula Rasa. Richard Garriott is the creative force behind the game and he has dreamed up something irresistible to go along with the game. It is called Operation Immortality and in a nutshell, Garriott wants to will take a storage device into space to archive information about the human race. The fun part is that anyone can get in on the gig.

You can upload your personal motto, contribute your Tabula Rasa character, and even vote for what will be considered mankind’s greatest achievement to date.

Operation Immortality: Leave your mark. Save Humanity.
My personal motto is “in the face of eternity, not every little thing matters.” Basically, pick your battles, because in the scheme of eternity, only the important issues even matter. I uploaded my message and maybe – just maybe – someone out there will see it one day. That’s an exciting concept.

You can download a free trial of the online game Tabula Rasa, and even upload your own message to be taken in the great beyond. How exciting is that? I uploaded my message (it’s number 481 if you want to check it out).
