Confession Time: The Bachelorette
I watched the first season of the The Bachelorette, the one with Trista. I liked her overall and from the first episode, I was sucked in my Ryan. I love love love seeing the end result – that she picked Ryan, married him, had a baby with him, and looks that it looks like their relationship is healthier than 99% of the rest of us out there.
I have not watched another season of the Bacheloreete until now. I liked the way Deanna pulled her punches. I rather loathed Brad, fro her Bachelor season, and was thrilled when she was not only miraculously freed by his rejection of both women, but put on this current course for romance with the new show.
I’m a romantic at heart. I like to see a love story unfold. And, I adore watching human interaction in stressful situations. These guys, they might not be bitchy and petty like the girls on the Bachelor shows, but they are every bit as jealous and posturing. They are just slower and more methodical about bringing one another down. It’s almost painful to watch their plotting and conniving.
So, anyway, I have to admit I am a fan of Jeremy. Unfortunately, I think he doesn’t ultimately have the shops to make it all the way to the end. Deep inside, I think he is a great good and a super catch. However, the man who most impresses me is Jason. I think it was initially because he is a divorced single-dad. I wanted to see him succeed in a show where anyone with children or divorce in their history tends to go down in flames from the beginning. Young singles love to think they will never be divorced, never be single parents, and only deserve marriages to other singles with no baggage.
Take a look at the divorce stats, people. You may one day be in the same situation,
Last night, when Jason finally revealed his fatherhood to DeAnna, I think we saw a massive win for the divorced single-parents out there. Not only did Jason present his situation with a lovely economy or words (I think too many of us are too quick to spill all the ugly details), but he also incited in DeAnna a positive response. She later presented Jason a certificate showing that she’d had a star named after the son. It was a bold and significant gesture on her part.
I’ve heard rumors that Jason makes it all the way to the end. I would love to see it happen. He may not be my own, personal choice, but I love what winning would mean for the rest of us single parents out here in the world.
