Nobody is willing to go easy on the eight Florida teens that beat 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay within an inch of her life, causing her to lose sight and hearing functionality on the left side of her head. Of course, the fact they filmed the entire incident with the intention of putting it online at sites like YouTube and MySpace so it would go viral, doesn’t help matters.
Today Judge Angela Cowden set bail for each of the teens at double the normal rate. Because prosecutors will try all of the teens as adults, bails are set from $30,000 to $37,000 each.
All eight, even the 14-yer-old, could face life in prison if convicted.
Here are the other conditions of their bail:
They are prohibited from contacting one another, the victim, or victim’s family.
They cannot visit Mulberry High School or any school-related functions.
They cannot visit MySpace or any other social-networking site, chat room or forum on the Internet.
They are prohibited from going to the Wing House restaurant in Lakeland, where Lindsay has worked as a hostess for the past month.
Somehow I think it will be the internet restrictions that will drive them all nutty and be the most difficult to enforce.
