Christmas Day Crash Claims Third Victim

On December 27, I wrote about David Belniak. He is a man with a long criminal record who ran a red light on Christmas day and killed two people in a car that he hit. Barbara, the daughter of the man driving the car that was hit, commented on my blog and said something that lead me to believe three people had actually been killed. Upon further investigation, I see that indeed a third person was taken off of life support this week, bring the death toll in the tragic crime to three.

Belniak has a terrible driving record, a prison record, and has actually killed yet another person while behind the wheel of a vehicle, though he was not charged in that 1994 pedestrian death. What a shame. If shyster lawyers and lazy, corrupt judges had not conspired to keep this man on the roads, Barbara would still have her step-mother, step-sister and her step-sister’s husband in her life. Instead, she must deal with her devastated father and the truth that a murderer is still walking free as I write this.

The Florida Highway Patrol Spokesman Larry Coggins says criminal charges are “imminent.”

Let’s hope so. I loathe the idea that David Belniak might be driving on the same roads that I travel. He is a danger to humanity.

I just learned that a coworker-friend lost his 23 year old daughter to an auto accident in Florida over Christmas. This coworker is one of the nicest, warmest thoughtful people I know and had just sent me a note checking up on me when he saw I was having a difficult day at work just before Christmas. Geez, my heart is breaking for him now. These things happen so quickly and everything’s changed. I saw they started an online guestbook for people to write thoughts and condolences. The first entry simply said, “It’s not fair.”
I agree. Sigh. My condolences to the family involved in this accident you wrote about too. Sad and frustrating.

We had a client like that at the agency I worked for. He was drunk and didn’t realize a road was blocked off for some sort of festival. He drove through the barrier and hit 13 people. 1 died, a few had severe injuries and the rest were not seriously hurt, but quite shaken up. He drove away. Fled the scene!

The cops found out who it was, with the festival going on they had plenty of witnesses. Unfortunately, I know he was still on the streets after this happened. I wanted to run him over with a steamroller and I didn’t feel bad thinking that.
