Life on Florida’s West Coast

It’s October: let’s talk Halloween costumes

I’ll put this out there first; I am not a huge fan of Halloween. I’m just not. When my daughter was born, my ex husband and I had this idealistic concept that we would just never introduce it to her.

Kids have a mind of their own, though. She picked up on Halloween at school, from her friends, from her cousin, from stores, and so on. I caved and let her dress up each year. We started with an Angel costume and then every year since, she has picked out Princess Halloween Costumes. She has a blast. To her, it is all candy and dressing up in frilly dresses and tiaras.

She and I have been discussing her costume for this year since at least January! She has changed her mind a couple of times, but it’s all come back to Sleeping Beauty, otherwise known as Aurora. She actually went as Aurora when she was two, but she is still in love with the fact that Sleeping Beauty’s theme color is pink. It’s all about pink in this house, baby!

I found a pretty cute Aurora Princess costume on the Halloween Express website. I included a picture of it in this post, in fact. I love online shopping. I talk about it all of the time. And even though Halloween Express has a free shipping deal and a same day shipping policy, they also have over 200 retails stores in the US and the UK. In fact, one is right here in Tampa. So, since I want the costume to fit just right, Gigi and I will take a trip over to the store to try it on. :)
