Virtual Dress Up Dolls
Gigi is four, nearly four and a half. In the last several months she has been learning how to use the computer. I allow her to play the games on the PBS site and over at Daily Noggin. She cannot really read yet, but she has a great sense of how to mouse around and figure out the games.
I like that there are sites on the net that are family friendly and that we can enjoy together. The internet is a very real part of our everyday lives now, it is here to stay and it will be even more real to my daughter than it is for me. It came about around the time I was graduating from college; but Gigi was born into a wired world.
Gigi is also obsessed with dolls. Barbie dolls, baby dolls, paper dolls, dolls dolls dolls! She comes by that honestly. I have a collection she is just dying to get her hands on, but I have them boxed up properly and she can have them when she is older and a whole lot more responsible. She and I play with her dolls all of the time.
Online, some of the games she enjoys the most are the dress up doll games. There are precious few of those on site like Noggin, so I have Cartoon Doll Emporium at the top of my bookmark list. I wish I recorded the sound of wonder that came from my daughter the first time she saw the site. It was like a sign, but much more happy and glee-filled.
I love the virtual dolls at Cartoon Doll Emporium, because they don’t tear and they don’t need boxes to be stored in, therefore taking up room on the bookshelf. These dolls are all online and just as much fun as the real thing. In fact, since they combine the thrill of technology, dress up dolls and virtual pets (like webkinz) are pretty much all the rage with girls of all ages (including girls MY age!) CDE has over 800 virtual dolls.
I pasted in a copy of the last doll Gigi dressed. It’s Chloe from Bratz. I’m not a huge Bratz fan, but Gigi loves those little fashion divas.
Dress games are really popular among kids..they are not only fun to play with but they also help develop our kid’s creativity.
