Could I learn plumbing?

I’ve been spoiled by the extra tall kitchen faucet we have in this house. You can get big pots and stuff under the faucet easer to wash. Plus, it just looks really cool. My mom has a standard kitchen faucet at her place, so I thought I would have my brother-in-law take a look at the plumbing under the sink for me and then go pick up a new faucet, unless it turns out it would mean replacing a lot of the plumbing. That’s what happened when I picked up a new faucet when we were living in Gainesville. I ended up having a friend’s husband pretty much redo everything under the sink. This little hardware store down the road that I like has Delta faucets on sale.

What all of this has me thinking about is that I really need to learn a little something about plumbing. I am tired of calling wither a plumber or my brother-in law every time my disposal gets clogged or the toilet won’t stop running or I need new hardware installed. It seems like I could learn how to do some of the smaller jobs myself and therefore be more self sufficient. I am not in a position, like I was when I was married, where I can just call in a professional and not worry about the cost of the bill.

I wonder if any of the big home stores do workshops like this?

Yes, it’s very easy to learn basic plumbing. My cousin Ronette is now a Master Plumber.
Home Depot provides all kinds of home improvement classes.
You can learn how to hang a door properly, install a toilet and install your beloved faucet.
It’s not hard at all. You turn off the water, take the old faucet off and install the new one.

My grandpa was a handyman. Thank goodness. My dad wasn’t handy at all. Mom was the Mrs. Fix-it around our house.
heh.

Faucets are easy. You can surely do it just by following the directions that come with it. If you get those flexible water lines that are almost standard now. There isn’t even any measuring or anything. It is a matter of screwing the faucet down and hooking all the hoses together.

Sounds crazy but I’m a bathroom fixture freak! I’ve been looking for just the right faucet for some time!
